First of all we want to thank you for trying out Quicknames Pro. We are committed to continually improving this product and have lots of exciting things planned.
Secondly, Quicknames Pro has been tested with a number of applications and operating environments. If you experience any difficulties please don't hesitate to contact us directly.
After installing Quicknames Pro simply tap on the upper half of the built-in names button to launch it, as indicated by the shaded area:

Quicknames Pro provides a faster and more flexible environment for accessing your name file and we are confident it will significantly streamline the way you use your Newton.
In order to get the most benefit from this demo we recommend you install/read the on-line help.
We also recommend that you tap the "Remove prefs from Newton" button (in the Quicknames preferences area) before you remove Quicknames Pro.
Below are a few notes concerning this version.
DISABLED FEATURES

LandWare would like you to be able to use this demo to *fully* evaluate Quicknames Pro. Therefore this version is equal to the full version in every way except:
1. The "a","i", "e" and "option" keys have been disabled
2. You cannot directly manipulate the text in the search field
(note-- in the full version you can: drag text, write/scrub, double-tap for a keyboard or even
use Palm's Graffiti.)
3. The Auto search feature has been disabled.
(This feature allows you to automatically search for any highlighted text.)
4. You cannot search for a first name.
We are confident that enough functionality has been maintained to enable you to fully evaluate Quicknames Pro.
INDEX BUILDING TIMES
--------------------
The very first time you launch Quicknames Pro it will spend time building its search indexes. Building indexes can take some time so we suggest that if you have over 400 names that you have your Newton plugged in while the indexes are being built.
To give you an idea of how long it can take we have provided a table of build times below.
Index building times for a Newton MP110 (with 4Mb Flash Card)

These times are approximate and your mileage may vary. If you are running low on space then index building times can take CONSIDERABLY longer.
The good news is that it is a one time operation. And the index created with this demo version will be used by the full version.
SEARCHING FOR FOREIGN CHARACTERS

No we are not talking about finding a overseas person with a good personality!
Even though Quicknames allows you to enter foreign characters version 1.x of the Newton operating system considers o, o umlaut or a, a accent etc lexically equivalent.
COMPATIBILITY WITH OTHER NAME APPS
----------------------------------
As far as we can tell Quicknames Pro 2.0e coexists with Action Names, More Info and PowerNames.
Action names and More Info do not overlap Quicknames functionality and we feel that the combination of Quicknames Pro and the latter would provide you with an extremely powerful names management environment.
There are a number of shareware applications that alter the way the names file operates and we cannot guarantee compatibility with all of them.
